Vintage Pooh Corner Baby's 1st Birthday

I was sooo excited to be asked to do the dessert table for this old fashioned Winnie the Pooh birthday party! I have always wanted to have a reason to do a bee cake or a Pooh party, so YAY!
Who doesn't love a cute beehive cake! This cake was a honey French vanilla cake with a lemon and honey buttercream glaze, topped with royal icing bees EVERYWHERE! I made my bees with royal icing and my food writer edible markers mixed with Americolor black gel paste for a little shine.
I loved how golden the cake came out of the mold. A mold which I, by the way-LOVE! I have used it many times and it is much easier to use than other beehive molds I've used in the past.
Can you even have a honey beehive cake without honey cupcakes? These beauties were a lemon vanilla cupcake with a honey cream cheese frosting. I may or may not have eaten all of the remaining frosting from the bowl and my daughter may have licked it clean.
these beautiful chocolate cupcakes with a marshmallow whipped frosting were done at the clients request and torched to resemble a beehive. I loved the texture and depth they gave to the whole ensemble of desserts with the lightly toasted color, and really- does anything smell better than chocolate and toasted marshmallow?
When having a Pooh party- Tigger tails are a must! I always love seeing these at Disneyland, and had fun singing the "wonderful thing about tiggers" as I dipped and drizzled chocolate everywhere!
What a beautiful party set up!

Hello Little Kitty!

Hello Kitty is always a bright and colorful affair! This one was a brightly colored version of my pastel one made last fall. But brighter colors to match the party décor! Kitty is strangely a hard shape for me to cut freehand. Must be the perfectionist in me trying to get both sides perfectly even. I use this super cute and way easy cutter for my "kitty" needs!

Classic Navy & Gold Celebration

When asked to make a navy and gold themed cake and macarons for my sister's 20th birthday party, my first thought was "is it a nautical party?"
Well, this was much more fun to make than a cake with an anchor and ropes!
Always fun to make brightly colored macarons, especially in French Vanilla and Lemon flavors, mmmm; and what is better than a brush of gold on top!
I absolutely loved the rich tones of the navy flower and how the gold just made it pop!
I just couldn't get enough pictures! I loved the gold and blue!
I decided Navy and Gold were the perfect combo for a classy party dessert table!

Girly Beach Cake

I thoroughly enjoyed making this cake for the sweet little birthday girl Zoey who requested a beach party cake with a turtle on top! A turtle beats a cherry on top any day, I say!
I have to say, this was one of my favorite cakes I've done. It was inspired by a photo the birthday girl saw online and liked so I kept some elements and added a few other touches, including the turtle!
LOVED the turtle! I loved the way the little smile turned out...
and how the face appeared to be staring up from the top of the cake to the birthday girl!
Plumeria have always been one of my favorite flowers, even though these didn't smell as good as a beach in Hawaii, they did the job for a cake!
Smiles for the birthday girl!
SURFS UP!!

Baby 1st Birthday Jungle Style

My little niece had her first birthday this weekend and I was  thrilled to be able to make her special cakes, as well as her birthday sign and invitation! It was fun because i was able to think up cake ideas as i was designing the invites, and then create everything to match! She wanted a cherry buttercream cake, so tried to add in some green and brown to counteract all the pink from the frosting.

A Dolphin Tail Cake

I love working with people who know what they want! It makes the cake design process very straight forward and easy. This was a first, and it was so fun to work with this darling colaborating on her special birthday cake. It all started with a drawing she did and a very specific explaination of what everything was on it for the cake, right down to the dolphins made of rice krispy treats! It was all very sweet and so cute to watch! I had a lot of fun incorporating her drawing into her cake, and was very happy with the end result. It was her second dolphin cake, but my favorite of the two! :)
