Frozen Themed Buttercream Cake

I have wanted to do a Frozen themed cake, so I was thrilled when asked. Since it was somewhat short notice, I did it in buttercream due to the fact that I didn't have time to mix up a batch of fondant. But I was thrilled with the simple yet sweet look it turned out with! It is super hard to find small Frozen themed figurines right now, but these were the perfect size and shipped quite fast!
I loved the idea of using Isomalt to make "ice" structures. I just love the look Isomalt creates for things like ice and glass, even flames, and the nibs are so easy to use! I just used a few into a silicone measuring cup, CakePlay has a great set I love, and melted it in the microwave for a minute or so. Once it is all melted, just add the food coloring, I used Americolor sky blue, then slowly pour it out over a silpat mat, or tinfoil sprayed with Pam. Once it hardens, you can break it into these fun pieces!!
Easy Peasy!  Perfect for a little girl!

Little Man in a Tie

We enjoyed celebrating our little guys special blessing day. We were surrounded by our family and close friends which made the day even more special! Many came from far away, so we made sure to feed everyone to thank them for joining us. We set up a slider hamburger bar and a nice dessert table, as well as many of the other delights people offered to bring! Here are some fun photos of Christians special day.

Turning 1!

What sweet little birthday girl! I was so happy to be asked to do a little smash cake for Brielle's 1st birthday, and these pics are just adorable! I love how the beige cake stands out against her adorable pink outfit!

Toddler Made Cookies

My daughter wanted to make cookies for her Grandma! How can you say no to that! We whipped up a small batch of sugar cookies (but you could do this with any cookie you can ice with royal icing), frosted them and let them completely harden. We let them harden over night, then  I turned her loose with my edible markers!  I absolutely love AmeriColor gels , they are always true to color and need way less product than regular, or even Wilton food colors. The edible markers are the same. They are rich vibrant colors and thick enough that you don't need to go over and over your lines, which I find tends to dissolve the icing faster. I use them any time my decorating requires an image I don't want to pipe or frost with precision!
I loved watching her be creative and plan out each cookie on her note pad, then carefully draw on the cookies. She was so detailed and what a fun imaginative way to let the little ones be involved when baking! She was so excited to package them up and present her masterpieces to grandma herself!
They turned out so cute!
